Speed

Speed is the mobility-strike branch of VV: Ultimatum's universal skill tree, with seven documented shunpo-based skills culminating in the ultimate Final Breath, most of which also require Strength stat investment at higher tiers.

The Speed tree turns raw movement into offense. All documented cooldowns are level-1 base values, and every skill is upgradeable, with each level trimming the cooldown - from 0.3s per level on Clone Strike up to a full 1s per level on the ultimate. A notable quirk of the tree is hybrid gating: from Afterimage Slash onward, skills require Strength stat on top of Speed, making the top of the tree a Speed-Strength hybrid path.

The entry point is Aerial Ace (31s CD, 2 skill points, 10 Speed, 75 Soul Tokens), a fast shunpo counter against mid-air opponents. Clone Strike (22s, 7 SP, 44 Speed) and Afterimage Slash (30s, 8 SP, 124 Speed, 10 Strength) both knock an opponent into an afterimage slash per the documentation, with upgrades letting Clone Strike hit ragdolled targets and protecting Afterimage Slash from advanced counters. Judgement Cut (30s, 8 SP, 165 Speed, 30 Strength) flashes forward in a straight line, tracks moving enemies, and at Level 7 dismembers the arm of low-HP opponents.

The top tier: Double Strike (42s, 9 SP, 290 Speed, 70 Strength) advances forward awaiting enemy contact; Whirlwind Cutter (37s, 10 SP, 220 Speed, 50 Strength) performs three soaring strikes with the third teleporting you to the nearest opponent, gaining riposte frames and a guaranteed second hit through upgrades. Final Breath (70s, 12 SP, 330 Speed, 70 Strength), tagged 'Ashes to Ashes', charges a strike, teleports behind the opponent, and cuts through them after a short delay - upgrades add auto-execution of low-HP targets and, on a successful land, refresh a random Speed-Strength hybrid cooldown while fully rebuilding your ultimate bar.

FAQ

Do Speed skills need Strength too?

The higher tiers do - Afterimage Slash requires 10 Strength, Judgement Cut 30, Whirlwind Cutter 50, and both Double Strike and Final Breath 70, making the late tree a Speed-Strength hybrid investment.

What does Final Breath do at high level?

Beyond the behind-the-back teleport cut, Level 3 auto-executes low-HP opponents and Level 5 refreshes a random Speed-Strength hybrid cooldown and fully rebuilds your ultimate bar when it lands.

Why do Clone Strike and Afterimage Slash sound identical?

The community documentation currently lists the same one-line description for both; their upgrades differ, and clearer differentiation is pending - subject to change per current documentation.
