Reversal

Common (60.0%)

Reversal is the Common Soul Reaper element in VV: Ultimatum, rolled from the 60.0% bracket, whose Shikai disorients opponents by flipping their screen upside down with the Reversal debuff.

Reversal is the only documented Common Soul Reaper element, and it wins fights by attacking the player rather than the character: enemies affected by its signature Reversal debuff have their screens turned upside down, tinted purple, and dimmed. Fighting through that is genuinely disorienting, which makes an on-paper 'basic' kit surprisingly nasty in PvP.

Self Mirror (Ctrl + M1) creates a fake clone of yourself that mirrors your actions - if the clone is hit, the attacker is tagged with Reversal. Inverted World (Ctrl + M2) applies the debuff directly after a brief windup. The rest of the kit is about multiplying how often the debuff lands: upgrades apply Reversal to countered opponents, momentarily on rushdowns (non-manual, non-z-step), and after landing a manual rushdown while in form.

The standout milestone is Status Duration Level 5: enemies under Reversal cannot block or parry your attacks from the front, converting the visual chaos into concrete frame advantage. Reiatsu Efficiency Level 8 gives Self Mirror two charges, doubling your bait potential. Reversal has no variants per community documentation.

The passive defines the element: enemies affected by Reversal have their screens turned upside down, turned purple, and dimmed.

Milestone upgrades

Reiatsu Efficiency: Level 4 applies Reversal to countered opponents; Level 8 gives Self Mirror 2 charges.

FAQ

What does the Reversal debuff do?

It flips the affected player's screen upside down, tints it purple, and dims it - and with Status Duration Level 5, they also cannot block or parry your attacks from the front while affected.

How do I apply Reversal?

Through Inverted World, through your Self Mirror clone being hit, and - with upgrades - on counters, on rushdowns, and after manual rushdowns in form.

Is Reversal weak because it is Common?

It rolls at 60.0%, so most Soul Reaper players will see it often, but the anti-block/anti-parry milestone and constant screen disruption make it far more dangerous in PvP than its rarity suggests.
