Senbonzakura

Legendary (1.0%)

Senbonzakura is a Legendary Soul Reaper element in VV: Ultimatum, rolled at a 1.0% chance, that controls space with cascades of blade-petals and unlocks the sub-mode 'Scatter, Senbonzakura' at full Blossoming.

Senbonzakura is the iconic petal-storm Shikai of the Soul Reaper pool. Petal Dance (Ctrl + M1) sends forth a cascade of flowers that forms a circle and cuts everyone inside it, with two Thousand Blossoms follow-ups: Bladescatter divides the flowers to your mouse position to create two damaging zones, while Encircle drops a single larger area directly on top of your enemy. Wave of Blossoms (Ctrl + M2) pushes a wave of flowers forward, damaging and knocking back everything it touches.

The Shikai passive, Blossoming, fills a bar as you deal damage. At a full bar - and with 100% ability mastery - you can open the sub-mode 'Scatter, Senbonzakura', whose passive Scattered Blade breaks your weapon into a thousand flowers sharp enough to bleed enemies. The sub-mode's signature move, Thousand Blossoms: Final Act, rushes forward with two swings and a blink that leaves a thousand cuts in between; it reverts to Wave of Blossoms after one use, and can auto-execute low-health opponents with a special voiceline.

Upgrades scale with how far your blade has blossomed: petal abilities gain aftercuts at half blossom, fully-blossomed aftercuts finish off low-health opponents, all neutral parries become perfect at full blossom, and manual perfect parries extend the mode's duration. Senbonzakura's two variants are cosmetic weapon splits - Normal (50%) uses the Odachi longsword model, Katana (50%) the katana model.

Shikai moveset

Petal Dance (Ctrl + M1) sends forth a cascade of flowers, creating a circle that cuts all those within. Its first variant, Thousand Blossoms: Bladescatter, divides the flowers toward your mouse position into two damaging areas; the second, Thousand Blossoms: Encircle, creates one larger area on top of your enemy, damaging those inside.

Wave of Blossoms (Ctrl + M2) sends a wave of flowers forward, damaging and knocking back all enemies caught in it.

Blossoming and the sub-mode

The passive Blossoming fills a bar as you damage enemies; a full bar opens the sub-mode 'Scatter, Senbonzakura', which requires 100% ability mastery. Its passive, Scattered Blade, breaks your blade into a thousand flowers sharp enough to bleed enemies, and it carries its own M1s and critical.

Thousand Blossoms: Final Act (Ctrl + M2 in sub-mode) rushes forward with two swings, then blinks ahead, creating a thousand cuts in between. After one use it is replaced by Wave of Blossoms. Final Act can auto-execute opponents at low health, playing a special voiceline when it does.

Milestone upgrades

Damage: Level 4 gives petal-related abilities a petal aftercut once your blade is at least halfway to blossoming; Level 6 lets fully-blossomed aftercuts finish off low-health opponents by slicing them to pieces.

Reiatsu Efficiency: Level 9 makes all neutral parries perfect while your blade is fully blossomed; Level 10 makes every manual perfect parry slightly extend the duration of your blossom mode.

Rate: Level 5 sends your petals after an opponent you knock back from a blade catch; Level 6 makes Wave of Blossoms downslam on hit and build much more blossom meter when your meter is already above 30%.

FAQ

How do I unlock Scatter, Senbonzakura?

Fill the Blossoming bar by dealing damage in Shikai, and have 100% ability mastery - both are required before the sub-mode can be opened.

Do Senbonzakura's variants change gameplay?

No. Normal (50%) and Katana (50%) only decide whether your Shikai weapon uses the Odachi longsword or katana model.

Can Senbonzakura execute?

Yes - Thousand Blossoms: Final Act auto-executes opponents at low enough health (with a special voiceline), and Damage Level 6 lets fully-blossomed aftercuts finish off low-health targets.
