The Iron

Common (60.0%)

The Iron is a Common Quincy element (Schrift) in VV: Ultimatum, rolled from the 60.0% bracket, that armors your arm with False Arm, throws it as shrapnel via Demolition Man, and carries the largest variant pool of any documented Schrift.

The Iron is a hit-buffing brawler Schrift. False Arm (Ctrl + M1) summons iron around your arm, buffing the damage of your next 2 hits; casting it again converts into Demolition Man, which hurls the iron on your arm toward your enemy as shrapnel. Letzt Stil has no passive but adds Metal Spikes (Ctrl + M2), a three-hit combo using the spikes on your arms.

The upgrade lines feed the metal-infusion theme. Metalworking extends False Arm's duration and, if two Demolition Man projectiles land, infuses the opponent with metal. Damage upgrades let the third hit of Metal Spikes apply the same infusion and make all iron-based attacks cause bleeding. Durability upgrades let False Arm survive 3 hits instead of 2 and grant 10% damage reduction while it is active.

The Iron's defining quirk is its six gemstone variants, each at 5% except Diamond at 3%. Ruby makes metal infusions bleed and deal more impact damage at the cost of stun (red); Opal lets the final Metal Spikes hit ignite opponents but lengthens the cooldown (orange); Amethyst cheapens Demolition Man's Reiatsu cost while slightly extending False Arm's cooldown (purple); Emerald gives False Arm an extra hit but a shorter active duration (green); Diamond turns Demolition Man's close-range attack into a concussion tool at much lower damage (light blue); and Sapphire raises Reiatsu costs on all ability techniques in exchange for shorter cooldowns (blue).

FAQ

How many variants does The Iron have?

Six gemstone variants - Ruby, Opal, Amethyst, Emerald, and Sapphire at 5% each, plus Diamond at 3% - each trading one strength for one weakness and recoloring the metal.

What does metal infusion do?

Metal infusion is applied by landing two Demolition Man projectiles (Metalworking Level 8) or the third hit of Metal Spikes (Damage Level 3). With the Ruby variant, infusions also bleed and hit harder at the cost of stun.

Is The Iron tanky?

Somewhat - Durability Level 7 gives you 10% damage reduction whenever False Arm is active, and Level 2 lets the arm absorb 3 hits instead of 2 before breaking.
