Waypoint
Rare (9.0%)Waypoint is a Rare Soul Reaper element in VV: Ultimatum, rolled from the 9.0% bracket, built around placing teleport markers - on the ground or on opponents - and warping back to them mid-fight.
Waypoint is the map-control Shikai of the Soul Reaper pool. Mark Destination (Ctrl + M1) has two flavors: the ground variant quickly digs a spot in the floor as a return point, while the enemy variant punches a nearby opponent to plant the marker on them - applying knockback and enabling follow-ups, though a blocking opponent takes no knockback and receives no mark. Warp (Ctrl + M1 + M1) returns you to the marked destination if you are within range; attempting it out of range simply closes the mark.
The Shikai's M2 skill, Rift, is named in community documentation but not described in detail. There is currently no Shikai passive - the documentation notes elements are expected to gain passives in the future, so this is subject to change per current documentation.
The upgrades build a trap-and-ambush toolkit. Landing Rift can mark the opponent if you have no active marker, and manual rushdowns automatically create a marker at their start point when Mark Destination is off cooldown. On the damage side you can feint your teleport and send a bomb through instead (ground markers only), flip-kick opponents by pressing Counter during Warp startup, and detonate a marker by landing Rift near it. Marker Strength fully conceals your waypoints (unless planted on a person) and reduces incoming damage while you stand in range of them - more strongly for ground markers. Two variants exist: Gateway (15%) with more range and marker duration but less Rift and enemy-mark damage, and Cosmic (5%) with longer rift duration but shorter teleport range.

Shikai moveset
Mark Destination (Ctrl + M1, ground variant) digs a spot in the floor to mark a return point. The enemy variant triggers when an opponent is nearby: you punch them, planting the marker on their body and knocking them back with follow-up potential - unless they block, which prevents both the knockback and the mark.
Warp (Ctrl + M1 + M1) returns you to the marked destination while within its range; using it outside the range closes the mark instead. Rift (Ctrl + M2) is the Shikai skill, currently undescribed in community documentation beyond its upgrade interactions.
Milestone upgrades
Reiatsu Efficiency: Level 5 marks the opponent when you land Rift, provided you have no active marker; Level 7 makes manual rushdowns automatically create a marker at their start point while Mark Destination is off cooldown.
Damage: Level 4 lets you feint your teleport and transport a bomb to the marker instead (ground markers only); Level 7 adds a flip kick after teleporting to an opponent if you press Counter during Warp startup; Level 9 detonates a marker when Rift lands while the opponent is near it.
Marker Strength: Level 6 fully conceals your waypoints unless they are on a person; Level 10 reduces incoming damage while you are in range of your waypoints, with a stronger effect for ground markers.
FAQ
Can opponents avoid being marked?
Yes - blocking the Mark Destination punch prevents both the knockback and the marker from being applied.
What happens if I Warp out of range?
The Warp fails and the mark closes, so positioning matters: stay within the marker's range if you intend to return to it.
Which Waypoint variant is better?
Gateway (15%) favors zoning with more range and marker duration at reduced damage; Cosmic (5%) extends Rift's duration but shortens teleport range. Both are trade-offs rather than upgrades.
